The Ministry of Public Works and Environment advises that, as of 10:30 a.m. today, the Department of Parks’ Lifeguard Service has resumed normal operations at Turtle Beach, Clearwater Beach, John Smith’s Bay, and Horseshoe Bay.
While lifeguards are now on duty, the public is reminded that sea conditions remain hazardous around the island in the wake of Hurricane Erin.
Although some improvement has been observed on parts of the south shore, High Surf warning signs remain in place island-wide.
At Horseshoe Bay, the red flag is flying, indicating the presence of dangerous surf and rip current conditions.
Beachgoers are strongly discouraged from entering the water. With seas expected to gradually abate into the weekend, it is anticipated that high surf warning signs will begin to be removed in the coming days.
As always, the Department of Parks’ Lifeguard Service urges the public to consult the official forecasts of the Bermuda Weather Service before going in or near the ocean.
