Premier David Burt returns from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, today, following a trip where he led a delegation from Bermuda to the 2025 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium.

The symposium, hosted by SALT and Kraken with support from the University of Wyoming’s Centre for Blockchain and Digital Innovation, was an invitation-only event attended by over 350 senior leaders, policymakers, regulators and investors. This year’s discussions focused on the next phase of digital asset innovation, regulation, and public-private collaboration.

Premier Burt spoke at a Fireside Chat on the event’s main stage, highlighting Bermuda’s leadership in digital finance and its regulatory framework during the session “Bermuda’s Approach to Digital Finance.”

Since 2021, Bermuda and Wyoming have maintained a strong relationship in the area of digital finance regulation. That year, the Bermuda Monetary Authority and the Wyoming Division of Banking signed a Digital Assets Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a regulatory bridge between the two jurisdictions. This recent trip was aimed at further building on that foundation and strengthening ties with new US federal government officials in the Trump Administration and the Wyoming state government.

The Premier and delegation met with senior US federal officials, including Michelle Bowman, Vice Chair for Supervision of the US Federal Reserve, Christopher J. Waller, a member of the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission Paul S. Atkins.

Discussions were also held with Wyoming leaders, including US Senator Cynthia Lummis, representatives from the Wyoming Stable Token Commission, and the Wyoming State Legislature.

In addition to engaging with federal and state government officials, the delegation held numerous meetings with the global leadership of licensed digital finance companies in Bermuda and those interested in becoming licensed in Bermuda’s growing digital asset industry.

The Premier stated, “Bermuda continues to be recognised globally as a leader in digital finance regulation. Last year, Bermuda's presence at this high-quality event yielded new licensed companies and brought SALT to Bermuda to host the Digital Finance Forum. This year, a larger delegation was necessary as we engaged with US regulators from the new Trump administration. I'm grateful to the BMA for joining the Government delegation and fully expect that more companies will be licensed in Bermuda following our engagements in Wyoming, creating new jobs and opportunities for Bermudians."

Premier Burt was accompanied by representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and the Government of Bermuda’s Washington, DC Office.
